The first painting I created was Soldier (see 2nd painting on the left).  I was in the middle of my Basic Training at Fort Jackson, South Carolina.  Somewhere I found some tempera, limited colors: brown, green, black.  I took to work with that, cotton swabs and a pencil.  Once I created that Drill Sergeant Bolser asked me to make a painting of a cowboy outside our barracks.  The painting was some 40" x 40" (not sure of the size).  Unfortunately, I don't have a picture of it.  It was a great piece. I am nearly done with my military commitment (Feb 6, 2008), but the Army will always be in my heart. Estefan
