A Short Bio
Estefan Gargost, Puerto Rican painter1967- Estefan is born in Waterbury, Connecticut in ; grows up in Toa Alta, Puerto Rico; returns to Waterbury at age 15. 1982-1985- he is under the tutelage of artists and professors Ms. Mary Considine and Dr. Andrew Sirica. 1985- he enters the University of Connecticut and begins his studies in Biology. 1987- Estefan returns to Puerto Rico to study in the Universidad Adventista de las Antillas. There he continues his studies in Biology and adds Theology to his academic goals. 1996- he finds a mentor in renowned Puerto Rican painter and family friend Luis G. Cajiga. 1998- Estefan joins the United States Army, becoming a Noncommissioned Officer in its elite unit the 3rd U.S. Infantry Regiment, also known as The Old Guard. 2001- he is discovered by the late Noi Chudnoff, philanthropist and owner of go mama go! in Washington, DC. The relationship lasts until Noi's untimely death in November 2007. 2002- Estefan becomes a full-time artist, though he's frequently involved in philanthropic and political causes. 2005- Estefan's poem "As Faith May Allow" is published in The Renascent. In that same year his art is published in the book "Libro de Arte Contemporaneo Iberoamericano" |
